Bio of Annie Elliott

Annie developed her eye and aesthetic sensibilities working in some of the nation's top museums and studying 20th-century art.  These experiences have shaped her approach to design:  she believes that the most elegant solution is often the simplest.

Annie began her career in Philadelphia after receiving a B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania (she graduated from Milton Academy in 1988).  She was the Rosenbach Museum & Library's first development director and served as occasional guest curator of its Maurice Sendak archive.

She then completed an M.A. at the Williams College Graduate Program in the History of Art, where she worked in the curatorial department of the college museum and held a summer internship at the Museum of Modern Art, New York.

Annie Elliott

Annie moved to Washington, D.C. in 1998 for a development position at the Corcoran Gallery of Art.  She went from there to the Smithsonian, where she was a senior staff member at the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service.  Annie started her interior design business in 2004.

Today, in addition to running bossy color, Annie maintains her connection to cultural institutions by lending her expertise to Social Capital Partnerships, a Chicago-based company specializing in strategic philanthropy.  She also is an active member of ArtTable, a national organization for women in leadership positions in the visual arts.
