Interior Designer, Washington DC

Full service: recommendations and implementation

Bossy color’s “full service” is everything you’d expect from an interior designer: I’m with you every step of the way. Depending on the nature of your project, I will:

  • Find and present fabric swatches, paint color swatches, wallpaper, tile, furniture tear sheets, and the like
  • “Source” furniture, rugs, and light fixtures from local and online retailers
  • Shop with you at the Washington Design Center or area stores
  • Place and monitor product orders
  • Work with contractors, window treatment fabricators, upholsterers, and other tradespeople on your behalf

Recommendations only

Some people want to know where to go and what to buy, but they’d like to do the purchasing and follow-through themselves.

For these clients, I prepare a detailed set of written recommendations with product links (“sourcing”) along with additional suggestions. (For example, “On site, we discussed painting your powder room light green. Two colors to consider are Benjamin Moore #477 Stolen Moments and Farrow & Ball #3 Off-White.”)

FAQs about bossy color’s services

Does bossy color work on anything besides houses?

Of course. Bossy color does work with all types of primary residences and weekend homes. But we also design private offices and offer "commercial bossy basics" to restaurants and hotels.

Do I have to own my house or apartment to benefit from bossy color's services?

Absolutely not. If you need new stuff, we'll focus on pieces you can take with you when you move: furniture, area rugs, table and floor lamps, etc. Any recommended capital changes would be high impact and low investment...paint colors, for example.

What are bossy color's fees?

Please contact bossy color for rates. There is a flat fee for the initial site meeting and an hourly fee beyond that. The get-acquainted phone call is free, of course.

I mostly need help organizing things: kids’ toys, closets, etc. Can bossy color do that?

No. We’ll point you in the right direction, though: in the D.C. area, contact Neatnik. Our client lists frequently overlap, and we work extremely well together.

I’m a realtor. Does bossy color “stage” homes for sale?

Absolutely. First I’ll suggest which items should be put into storage - and bossy color can arrange that if you like. Second, I'll make and implement a to-do list: re-arrange furniture, organize shelves, hang art. whatever it takes to make the house shine as it goes on the market.
